Meet Mr. Powell!

My name is Jackson Powell,

I was born in Inverness, Florida, and raised primarily in Hernando County, where I developed a strong sense of community and a lifelong appreciation for Florida’s natural beauty. After high school, I made the decision to join the United States Air Force—a path that not only taught me discipline and resilience, but also led me to the most important person in my life, my wife. We've now been married for over a decade and have built a life grounded in shared values, love, and a commitment to our family.

During my time in the Air Force, I gained valuable life experience and learned the importance of leadership, adaptability, and teamwork. After completing my service, I transitioned into studying electrical work, drawn by the hands-on nature of the field and the opportunity to learn a skilled trade. However, along the way, I discovered something unexpected: a deep and growing passion for education. It didn’t take long for me to realize that teaching—not wiring—was where I truly belonged.

History has always been a personal passion of mine. The stories of the past, the lessons they offer, and the connections they reveal between people and events continue to inspire me every day. As a teacher, I strive to bring history to life for my students, helping them see not only the facts and dates but the human experiences behind them.

Outside the classroom, my greatest joy comes from spending time with my wife and our three children. We love exploring the outdoors together—whether it's hiking in the mountains, fishing along the coast, or discovering new springs and rivers throughout Florida. Some of our favorite family destinations include Alexander Springs, the winding waters of the Weeki Wachee River, and relaxing evenings at Sam’s Beach Bar. These moments keep us grounded and connected, and they remind me of the importance of balancing hard work with meaningful family time.

I bring all of these experiences—military service, skilled trades, a love for history, and a dedication to family—into everything I do as an educator. My goal is to not only teach students but to inspire them, helping them find their own passions and understand the world around them just a little better.
